About Our Domain Names

Network Equipment

We currently only offer domain names with our hosting products *Tailored & *Unlimited

However,

HIVE Domains is a wholly owned and operated Australian company acting as agents for the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), .au Domain Administration Ltd (auDA) for Australia, the registry for .uk internet names Nominet UK, and the The Domain Name Commissioner (DNC) for New Zealand.
Hive-internet aims to push the limits of all products we offer, whilst remaining a value alternative. Our current goal for domain names is to provide an intuitive domain interface, that is the best on the market. Our domain management system, will allow you to keep all your domains organised and updated in one place. It is currently under development and in the early part of 2007 we expect to be launching it alongside a retail domain name presence! We will strive to beat the competition in both pricing & service.

The Domain Name System

We act as agents to accredited registrars for a number of organisations that regulate the domain name system. To find out more about Domain Names and their administering bodies, follow one of the links below:

ICANNICANN, the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers is responsible for managing and coordinating the Domain Name System (DNS) to ensure that every address is unique and that all users of the Internet can find all valid addresses. ICANN is also responsible for accrediting the domain name registrars. ICANN administers the databases through IANA (Internet Assigned Numbers Authority) and operates InterNIC (allowing WHOIS searches
dd.au Domain Administration Ltd (auDA) is an Australian not-for-profit company vested with the responsibility of operating the .au domain for the benefit of all stakeholders. In its role as manager of the .au domain, auDA carries out the following functions: develop and implement domain name policy, license 2LD registry operators, accredit and license registrars, implement consumer safeguards, facilitate .au Dispute Resolution Policy, represent .au at ICANN & other international fora.
Domain Name commissioner The Domain Name Commissioner (DNC) is responsible for the day to day oversight of the .nz domain name registration and management system. Under the .nz Shared Registry System, authorised registrars can register and manage .nz domain names directly with the registry. Registrars are authorised by the DNC. The DNC is an operational office of InternetNZ, the Internet Society of New Zealand Incorporated.
Nominet UK is the registry for .uk internet names. They manage the authoritative database of .uk domain name registrations, and are a not-for-profit company comprising of members instead of shareholders.
The .US top-level domain (usTLD) was established in 1985 as the official country code top-level domain (ccTLD) for the United States. It is administered by NeuStar. The expanded second-level .US domain launched on April 24, 2002, enabling companies, nonprofits, government entities and individuals to establish unique, memorable American addresses online. The existing .US structure is a locality-based hierarchy modeled on the geography of the United States. Most usTLD branches in the locality space are overseen by delegated managers (also known as "delegees" or "locality delegees"). This existing hierarchical design provides structure, name uniqueness and a geographic reference point for registrants. NeuStar maintains and enhances this locality-based structuure even as it administers the expanded second-level .US domain.
The Canadian Internet Registration Authority (CIRA) is a not for profit Canadian corporation that is responsible for operating the dot-ca Internet country code Top Level Domain (ccTLD) as a key public resource for all Canadians in an innovative, open, and efficient manner. CIRA may carry out other Internet related registration activities for the Canadian community in a similar manner.
